Great points Kevin. Maybe we still should talk about this on the next podcast - I don't think we've exhausted this list just yet.

Allie,

Would have been a great topic for another podcast! This is a good one, especially because we met by way of an intern networking event. The rest is history.

A couple thoughts went through my head as I read your post:

The extracurricular events are a great suggestion. Joining Ketchum's softball team helped me integrate into the team as soon as I joined the company. In fact, I went out and bought shorts and shoes my first day on the job so I could fill in! If you like athletics, simply joining a gym, intramural league or going outside to play pickup basketball games is a good way to meet people too. Plenty of people sign up individually for city intramural leagues and play on teams that they’re assigned to. You won’t be alone.

Also, I can’t tell you how many people have come or are coming to the city that I know. Keep in touch with friends from school or work, because you’ll be surprised at how much your friendship can factor into their moving decisions.

Happy posting,
