I remember the first time I became aware that companies were truly going above and beyond for their employees was when I saw a documentary piece on Google. The employees were interviewed and they all seemed so happy to work there. Gourmet chefs, day care, social events and more than I can even remember right now. This article mentions more perks: http://tinyurl.com/4bc34a

Meanwhile I was working for a company that had the attitude that I should be happy they hired me and to expect anything more than a paycheck was pretty much unthinkable. It wasn't a good experience.

Also it is interesting that people can always be "on" with the incorporation of all of the new ways to stay connected. This issue came up recently with ABC Writers. http://tinyurl.com/3z64sh

Just like consumers are starting to determine what they consume (My Yahoo and iGoogle pages, RSS feeds) instead of settling for whatever is deemed appropriate by someone else, the workforce is also evolving.

BTW any friend that helps you move automatically gets a 6 pack of their favorite beer unless they are a recovering alcoholic. I'm just saying...
