Sherry Petersik: From NYC Copywriter to DIY Blogger [15:08m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download (1051)
When I discovered This Young House, a DIY home improvement and decorating blog by Sherry and John Petersik, I was immediately hooked. Within a few weeks, I was finding new inspiration for my own little apartment here in Chicago—and I wasn’t alone. Sherry and John have gained a huge following, and the blog has become Sherry’s full time job.
I called Sherry to talk about her unique career path from working as a copywriter in New York City to working for herself as a blogger in Richmond, Virginia.
Enjoy the interview, and be sure to check out the blog for yourself. You can also read about Sherry’s “day in the life” as a professional blogger at High-Heeled Foot in the Door.

Great podcast! Sherry is full of insights and sounds like such a sweet, down-to-earth person. I love her blog and can’t wait to buy our first house so we can start using some of her advice.
And I totally agree about spitting out resumes after graduation vs. doing what you love. I will admit that I still don’t know what I want to do (or is it that I want to do everything?), but hopefully I’ll find that balance soon.

Nice podcast there. I can totally relate to Sherry. I don’t think she downgraded her career though–I think DIY/freelance bloggers are fantastic! Especially if the internet is your life and you have a knack for writing, why not?

Interesting podcast. I’m thinking of starting a DIY blog myself actually.
